MTV European Music Awards 07 from Munich: An interesting study of the latest cultural train wrecks. Take Amy Winehouse, for instance. Winner of this year’s Artist’s Choice Award, she was only able to utter a simple “thank you” when receiving the award on stage and both sounded and looked high as a kite while she slurred through her live performance afterwards.

They’re tryin to make me go to rehab

Yes I been black, but when I come back
You wont know, know, know.

I aint got the time,
And if my Daddy thinks im fine,
He’s tried to make me go to rehab,
I wont go, go, go.

Perhaps there are some very subtile intellectual message hidden somewhere in her lyrics, but I doubt it.

So why am I watching MTV EMA 07? It’s all about work. We should get VIP tickets to next year’s after party for this.
