You probably know the feeling when you are sure there was something you were supposed to do, but you’re just unable to remember what it was, no matter how hard to try to remember.
I’ve got that feeling now. It’s really annoying. To top it off, me head think it’s Thursday, but it’s not. It’s Wednesday. That sucks because I will mentally have a six day work week.
Did I forget to turn of the gas at home? Probably not, I’m at home now. And I don’t have a gas stove or anything gas powered for that matter. Did I forget to let out the cat? Don’t have a cat, either.
I wonder what’s up.

Long time, no post. The main reason is not that I live a completely eventless life, but rather that I have a hard time writing about events these days. Not sure why, but that’s the case.
The site is getting close to an anniversary - the 1000th entry. This will be entry number nine hundred and ninety three. Over the years I’ve written a lot more than a thousand entries, but since I was not thinking about the future when I was younger I never saved anything. Kind of stupid because in twenty years time I’ll probably look back at these entries and laugh my ass off. It would have been nice to have all of them from the very first one I wrote.
So what kind of crazy stuff have I been doing since we last spoke? Well, last Sunday I played Space Empires IV for eight hours straight. That’s reallycrazy. I won my first game ever, which was fun. On Saturday I met Hans Olav, Frida and Daniel downtown. Even if I was on technical support duty I took my chances, brought with me my “laptop” - it’s not really a laptop, it’s a Dell Latitude D800 beast - and three mobile phones; my own, the support phone and one I knew I could use as a UMTS modem with the D800 if I was unable to find any hotspots if all hell broke loose and I had to get online in a hurry. You know how it is with us former boy scouts: We’re always prepared. Thankfully nothing support-related happened.
On the bus to the city center I got my share of action for the weekend. Some drug addict, high as a kite at the time, was making a lot of commotion and the bus driver wanted the guy to leave between two stops. Not surprisingly, the guy didn’t really want to do that and when confronted, he allegedly showed the bus driver that he had a knife. I never saw that because the guy was behind me, but other people in the bus mentioned the knife later.
Since the druggie wasn’t really threatening anyone - yet - the bus driver didn’t open any of the doors to let people out, regulations prevents him from letting people off between stops. Instead he calmly walk to the front of the bus, and calls the cops.
The police in Oslo is a bit on the edge when it comes to people with knifes combined with public transportation after an incident a few years ago. A guy who should have been locked up at a psychiatric ward pulled out a huge knife on a tram and started stabbing random people. A young man was killed, a lot of people injured. Now it took only a minute from the police were hailed until they were by the bus with three patrol cars and six or eight officers.
The first of the officers who approached the bus had his expandable steel baton in his hand and a look at his face that told everyone that he was here to get this guy. The druggie calmly left the bus even before the officer was inside. Probably the best idea he had all day.

Last Sunday Snoop Dogg was busted after a concert in Sweden. On their way from The Globe Arena to the after-party Snoop and his entourage were pulled over by the cops, Mr. Dogg was taken to Stockholm central booking, had to provide a urine sample, was charged with possession of marijuana, had to pay a hefty fine and was released.
He was described by the police as “obviously under the influence of drugs”.
The day after he and P. Diddy held another concert in Oslo and after the concert some aspiring wanna-be VJ managed to get a small private session with Snoop Dogg in his hotel room. She took this picture:

I’m not sure about you, but to me this gangsta looks a little tired. Later, she was interview by a newspaper:
We were talking, eating chocolate and drinking champagne. I hinted that maybe I could film a little more, but he said he was tired, and wondered if I could massage his back instead. So I massaged his back. He was just nice, it wasn’t unpleasant or anything like that.
I’ll write what you’re all probably thinking: Riiight…

Yesterday the girlfriend packed her bag and went home. No, she didn’t leave me, she decided to visit her mother this weekend. Unfortunately, she only made it to the railway station before three Polish guys decided to mug her.
Any police officer in any large city will tell you that it’s a classic case: Two guys pretend they want to help her by grabbing her suitcase, while the third guy, which she never saw, picks her pockets and gets away with her wallet.
When she realized what has happened, she found one of the guys and confronted him. By now they are on the train, which is absolutely packed. She asks the fellow about the wallet, but of course he knows nothing about anything. No one else on the train gives a fuck.
Meanwhile, the train has started moving towards the next station, where it eventualy stops and the guy wants to get off. Naturally, she does not want him to do this, but holding a lot of luggage, it’s a bit hard to force him to stay on the train. She asks other people to do it, but again no one gives a fuck.
In the end, while she is calling the cops, the guy gets away. Because we don’t give a fuck when people we don’t know are in trouble. We’re a nation of pussies.
Why is that? Media tells us that if we get involved, we’ll get beaten up or even killed. Living in Norway, which is a welfare state, we’re not used to really do anything to live an acceptable life; tired of working, eh? Well, get your ass on welfare, let someone else to pay for your cigarettes and beer. Someone getting mugged? Hey, it’s not my problem, so I don’t want to get involved.
We’re not a nation of pussies. We’re a nation of spoiled pussies.
All that said, I don’t expect that we all start to play heroes. It’s important to evaluate the situation and don’t do anything stupid. But if possible, what about a little support, even if it’s just morale support? It was one bad guy in that train cart, and more than fifty good guys. Stop tolerating stuff like this.

It’s that time of the year again, here’s The Annual What-Happened-This-Year-Wrap-Up!
2006 was the year I…
- Lived in a shared apartment that almost caught on fire twice.
- Got my own apartment and moved out of said shared apartment.
- Tried to start exercising regularly for the Nth time but failed miserably once again.
- Bought an Apple MacBook Pro.
- Hit both the 2.000.000 and 3.000.000 page views marks on the site.
- Stopped eating anything with an excess amount of sugar, for instance candy.
- Suddenly developed an unhealthy obsession with football and gambling during the World Cup. It’s probably because of the lack of sugar.
- Rambled less than usual.
- Spent a night (almost) in the woods in -12 degrees centigrade.
- Bought the domain name www.waferbabes.com after a night out on town. Don’t drink and buy domain names.
- Continued to expand my collection of The Simpsons and South Park seasons. Also started to collect Family Guy. I’m still a sucker for mature cartoons - and by that I don’t mean pr0n, you pervert.
- Revealed the real name of The Girlfriend.
- Went to my second wedding ever.
- Posted fewer entries than I should.
- Got an electric guitar, but never really put any effort into learning to play it.
- Went to Hong Kong and China for the second time.
- Realized that I had fallen in love with Gine. Excellent.
- Removed another 5 entries from The List, but only wrote entries about 3 of them. Go figure.
- Started writing reviews of books, music, movies, whatever. Again.
- Finally got rid of the comment spammers after implementing a CHAPTA scheme. The world is now a better place.
- Really didn’t have any vacation.
- Redesigned the site.
- Took some OK pictures of Seigmen in concert.
- Added a comment feature to both the Moblog and the Gallery sections.
- Finally managed to create a mix tap for Liv Marie that she liked. At the same time there were reports coming in about hell freezing over.
- Went to Helsinki, Brighton, London, Stockholm, Moulsecoomb and probably some other places I can’t remember right now. It’s been less traveling this year, and that suits me well.
- Sold the company for the second time. But got paid this time.
- Got a Windows Media Center that I curse almost every day. I hope the Windows Vista edition works better than the XP edition.
- Added tag support to the entries and converted the whole site and the database to UTF-8. Gotta keep those |337 skillz fresh.
- Read a couple of really bad books (and a few good ones).
- Had my annual posting hiatus in December.
Wrap-ups for 2004 and 2005 can be found in the archives.
