No, not me. I haven’t been to a party in a while and I’m not really missing it. Either I’m turning to an (even more) boring fart, or it’s because work is hampering my mood and the need to attend any type of social gathering except for going to the movies. I’m hoping the latter is the case and I should do something about it.
New life with both socializing and exercise starts again next week. It’s a good time to start because the guys at work are starting to return from their summer vacations and I’m off support duty for at least two weeks. I’ve never been any good at this start-a-new-an-better-life-thing, though, if you have been reading my entries over the years, you know exactly how bad I am at it.
Someone in one of the first floor (that’s “ground floor” if you’re a fish and chips regular) apartments decided to have a party last night. They played some really, really loud music. There is of course nothing wrong with that - I might be turning into a boring fart, but I’m not a old fart yet. We heard the music quite well all the way up to our fourth floor apartment and when they started to play “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper over and over again, I was pretty sure it was the gay couple downstairs who had invited a few friends over. But it was not, it was just a stereotype failure by me. Continue reading "Partey."

I’m turning into quite the Formula 1 addict, and I’m taking you down with me!
This weekend I’ve been watching all the practice sessions and today’s qualifying session. The practice sessions weren’t even a tad interesting (maybe I’m not an addict after all), but the qualifying session was far better.
Filipe Massa and Ferrari fucked up real good in the pits during the second part of qualifying. They replaced all four tires on the car, but forgot to refuel. During part one and two of the qualifying session the cars are loaded with as little fuel as possible to reduce they weight. The result of the refueling error was that Massa’s Ferrari ran out of fuel just 20 meters after he left the Ferrari garage and they had to push him back and refuel. By the time they were done, the tires were cold and with limited grip, Massa was unable to make it to the third part of the qualifying session and starts 14th in tomorrow’s race. I laughed. Twice. There has been quite a lot of talk about sports here lately, the main focus being Formula 1. Some of you might argue that you can’t really look at Formula 1 or even perhaps motor sports in general as a sport per se, as they are just driving their vehicles - it’s not really physical.
Except for the fact that driving a car at extremely high speed around a tight track is a huge strain on the body, both physically and psychologically, I agree with you to some extent. Running a marathon could probably be seen as more of a sport than driving a go cart. I’m not sure if you really can define if a it’s a sport or not based on the level of physical activity, but for the sake of the argument, let’s say that’s the way we do define a sport. So what about a very physical activity, like Pro Cycling? Is that really a sport? Continue reading "Doped."

Hell just froze over and was quickly filled with flying pigs. I’m taking a week off from work! I’m looking forward to it, hoping for some shitty weather, which gives me an excuse to stay indoors playing Forza 2 and Dirt when it’s released on in Norway on Thursday.
But even though I’m not taking my bike to the office every morning next week, I’m mentally prepared for the worst. The farther away I am from the office, the greater the chance is that something hits the fan and that I have to scramble and get my ass down there. Like today - Friday - when a client sends an e-mail 8 minutes before normal office hours are over with a list of changes he wants to have implemented before Monday. One thing is certain about my job; it’s impossible to predict what will happen in the next five minutes. Continue reading "Temporary Freedom."

Remember that guy who told you that Formula 1 is boring? That guy is so wrong and Sunday’s race in Montreal, Canada, proved just that.
None of the 70 laps was never close to boring; the safety car was out on the tracks four times, there was constant fighting for positions and points, some of the veterans did some really stupid mistakes - Felipe Massa got himself black flagged for exiting the pits on the red light, while Alonso was bouncing around in the middle of the field together with Kimi Räikkönen - and freshman Lewis Hamilton brought home his first Formula 1 victory.
Out of 22 cars, only 12 finished, Coulthard and Button had to leave the race with gearbox problems, Massa and Fisichella were both disqualified for jumping the same red light, while six cars were involved in accidents. Continue reading "Speed."
