Hello.

So. I’m back from my vacation. Can’t say I have missed work that much, really, but not surprisingly I had to go to the office today. Enough about that.

Quick summary of the last two weeks: Relaxing, especially the week in Cairns. It was hot, Canada was a lot colder and when we were in Niagara Falls, it started to snow as well. It’s interesting to see that Canadians are just as bad as Norwegians when it comes to driving their cars in the first snowfall of the season. On our way from Niagara Falls to Kingston we saw four cars that had spun off the slippery roads, one of them was smashed up real good. Hopefully the driver was OK.

When me and Hans Olav flew from London to Montreal our Air Canada flight was tailed by another passenger plane. At one point I looked out the window and the other plane was just three hundred or so meters to the left of ours. About 10 minutes later, it banked right, crossed below us, reappeared on our right side, throttled up and disappeared on the horizon. I don’t know much about airspace regulations, but to me it looked like it was a little bit close.

Back to Frenchie Land.

Our Canadian adventure is about to come to an end. We’re in our marvelous Dodge Charger heading back towards Queubec and Montréal. The initial plan was to go to Ottawa today, then directly from Ottawa to Montréal airport tomorrow afternoon, but the weather forecast made us change our plans. It’s snow on the horizon, and it’s been snowing a bit already.

But not to worry, the Canadians - at least most of them - are well behaved drivers and we’ve encountered convoys of trucks removing the snow from the road. Our car has new tires, ABS, EPS and all kinds of other sophisticated systems to keep us on the road. Besides, the sturdy Dodge is so large it’ll bounce of pretty much anything.

Niagara Falls.

We’ve moved further south-west and are now sitting in a cheap inn watching a nausciating show called “Supersize She” on TLC. If you enjoy women looking like male body builders, you should watch it as well. If you don’t like it, I recommend that you stay clear.

Why are we watching TV instead of experiencing Canada? It’s been raining heavily all day, making it a bit of a challenge to get around, even with our masculine Dodge. We have moved to Niagara Falls to look at the, erh, falls, but to be honest, I was not impressed and was expecting it to be larger - at least higher.

Tomorrow we’ll move north again, around Lake Ontario.

Oh, Canada.

Slow on the updates, yes, but bear with me, I’m on vacation. Still on vacation. Hard to believe.

Australia is now far, far away and I have hooked up with Hans Olav and Gine. Me and Hans Olav spent a night in Montréal before we met Gine and a friend of hers at the airport, picked up our rental - a killer Dodge Charger - and started our journey towards Kingston. After a night there we’re now taking the scienic route towards Toronto.

Australia was the no-no country. No biking, no skateboarding, no smoking, no eating (but smoking), no drinking (but eating) and so on and so forth everywhere. In Canada the same rules might apply, but there are no signs everywhere to tell you about it. I mean “abot” it, of course…

G’day, How’s it Goin’?

After about six days in Cairns I’m now heading North again. It’s been a lazy week and me and Klas didn’t really do anything except for drinking beer, playing poker and chat with people passing through the same hostel we were staying at.

Some of you will probably say that I’m wasting my vacation by not getting up at seven in the morning every day to do as much as possible, but to me that’s not a vacation. Vacation for me is to be able to lay in a hammoc, drink cool beer and read a book. Preferably a good one. I did just that a lot as well, and I’m almost done with the second volume of the The Dark Tower novels by Stephen King. It’s a shame I didn’t get the third volume as well because I’ve got a lot of time to read during the next few days of flying around the world once again.

Even though the week was mostly aimless, we did go on one day trip to a crocodile zoo just outside of Cairns. A lot of interesting birds and animals and even a croc attack show. I did take some pictures, but nothing I can get online now.
