404 and 500. It was all my fault

Some of you might have noticed a few 404 and 500 errors on the site last night and early this morning. These numbers are error codes that the server returns to you when it’s unable to find a requested page and when it takes a slight dive, respectfully. The reason is that I was fumbling with things I really shouldn’t touch. I was trying to have every request to vegard.net (notice the lack of www) redirected to www.vegard.net. Why? Because I’m hard to please, I guess. I prefer to have the www in front of my domain name, so I simply force it on you to like it, too. And the previous server configuration made my logs treat every request from www.vegard.net as referrers to vegard.net, pushing all other referrers, like search engines and other sites, down in my stats. And that’s no good. Anyway, the redirection now works properly, both thanks to the people on the waferbaby dev-list and some luck. Give it a try if you don’t believe me.

And while we’re talking about referrers, Wenche (.no) has abandoned her site, removing my only real link from another site on the Internet. And that sucks. But she is still online, through an account (.no) over at LiveJournal.com. How nice.

Sara (the Sara to the left) called me yesterday. It’s the first time I’ve heard her voice since we saw each other at the reunion after the great trip to Brazil. It was very nice talking to her again, and since I’m moving to Oslo next week, I’ll probably see her some time, too. And it looks like Hans Olav is also moving to Oslo for the summer, where he has been lucky enough to get a job.

Recently I added a few more one-liners to the site. Here are a couple of my favourites among the new additions:

  • All those who believe in psychokinesis raise my hand.
  • If things get any worse, I’ll have to ask you to stop helping me.
  • The dumber people think you are, the more surprised they’re going to be when you kill them.
  • A drunk mans’ words are a sober mans’ thoughts.
  • Could crop circles be the work of a cereal killer?
  • A weekend wasted isn’t a wasted weekend.
  • I can’t spell and beer doesn’t help.

I also received an e-mail Camilla today, and chatted briefly with her via MSN. She is still in Portugal, having a very good time. During the chat I realized that I really miss that freaky little Asian girl. Weird stuff.
