Old Turf

I’ve now been unemployed for about a month. The first week was rough, it was weird to not go to work when everybody else did. I found myself spending more and more time in bed, not getting up in the morning. On the first Thursday I didn’t get up until lunch time. You’re probably seeing a bad pattern developing here.

Luckily, I was able to snap out of it the day after. For the last month I’ve been getting up early, lived a surprisingly social life - at least compared to how it was until 2009 - and travelled around a bit.

Two weekends ago I jumped on the train to visit Klas and Camilla and last weekend I flew with a couple of guys to Kyiv, Ukraine. On Saturday I’m going to Ola’s place for another sheep’s head. Good times, good times.

I’ve also been back to work a few hours for my old employee. The first time I got back it was a bit like coming to a new company; they’d employed five new guys since I left so there were a lot of new faces. I’ve been helping two of the new Java programmers getting up to speed on things and will be involved in a couple of projects as System Architect. I’ve got bills to pay, too, you know, and I’m not ready to try to find a full time job yet, so working a couple of hours a week suits me quite well, at least for the time being.
