T-Shirts: 2009 Edition

It’s that time of the year again. The snow has melted, the birds are singing, the sun is shining and there’s not a single cloud on a perfectly blue sky. Except for the last two days, that is - it’s been pouring down at times, but right now it looks like the skies are clear again.

To put what could have been a long story of scenery descriptions short: It’s spring and after spring comes summer. That means it’s about time to order me some new t-shirts! A while back I browsed through quite a lot of what Threadless had in stock, but I never ordered any of the shirts that I liked. So the operative word now really is “had” in stock, because they are all out of most of the designs.

The only one they have left of the five I bookmarked is the “in case of emergency BREAK DANCE” t-shirt, and even though it’s a great slogan - I giggle a little inside every time I read it - they’ve only got it in small. With the risk of sounding like a douche, there is a chance that small will be a rather tight fit in six months time1. But what the hell, the t-shirt is only $9 and all my other Threadless t-shirts in small still fit me perfectly well. So I’ll probably be ordering everything in that size anyway.

What’s cool about Threadless is that they introduce quite a lot of new designs every week, so there are still a lot to chose from. On the other hand, the problem with Threadless is that most of their designs look like they are made by someone who is either high on speed or pot or perhaps a little bit of both and unable to decide which one of the drugs should be the dominant one during the high. But at least it makes the designer creative.

To be honest, I prefer Threadless’ TypeTees t-shirts, like the “in case of emergency…” design mentioned above. So I think I’ll settle for that one and call it quits in this year’s t-shirt hunt. The result was not as good as I’d hoped for, but I still have all my old t-shirts, like the “The Communist Party t-shirt. Priceless!
