There is nothing wrong with small

A couple of days ago, I got a Christmas card from Marita and Cathrine in Bergen. A nice gesture. Of some strange reason, the card was written in English, it might have something to do with their (unhealthy) obsession with the US of A, Chicago in particular. But the most interesting thing about this Christmas card was the motive - a miniature version of H&M poster #3, that we borrowed from the bus sheds Wednesday night. Coincidence? I think not. But in all this, there is also something a little disturbing. They write that “After what we have learned through reading your Internet homepage, this card has to be it for you!!”. So, that’s the impression people have of me.

As the nerd I am, I’ve got a couple of computers. In addition to my sweet Dell laptop, I also have two desktops. Right now they are both located in our living room, because I had to move them out of the closet they stood when our hot water tank decided to start leaking, a problem that has temporary fixed itself in some miraculous way. But, in spite of that, I don’t want to move the computers back in the closet in case the tank explodes. As we all know electricity and water have never been very good friends. The main problem with having the desktops in the living room is that they are pretty noisy. So, I’m considering to junk them (at least turn them off) in favor of a Mini-ITX system. The problem is that it’ll cost me about $400, and I’m really not sure if it’s worth it. The upside is that I will get rid of the PCs in the living room, that I get an almost noise-free box that I can have on my desk and a nice Linux-box. One way to solve the price issue, is for you to donate the $400 to my PayPal account. Another one is that I start selling stuff that are not mine. Don’t feel safe.

A new nightly build of Miranda was released last night. Miranda is a free and open source messaging client for Windows supporting many instant messaging networks, including ICQ, MSN, Yahoo! and Jabber. There’s also a very open plugin structure that makes it easy to extend the functionality of Miranda. A must-have.
